A Site Manager at Perth-based housebuilders A & J Stephen (Builders) Limited has been nominated for a NHBC Quality Award, one of only three nominations for the North of Scotland.
Alan Robertson (48) hopes to improve on his success by securing a Seal of Excellence Award at the presentation dinner at Glasgow Hilton Hotel in October.
Alan, who has notched up 32 years with the company, served his apprenticeship as a Carpenter and Joiner and progressed to working as a sub-contractor before evolving into his current role as Site Manager in 2005.
Congratulating Alan, Ron Sutherland, Construction Manager said, “On behalf of the company, I would like to warmly congratulate Alan on this national recognition for his achievements on our Balgarvie development in Scone, Perthshire. Alan’s experience, attention to detail, together with his rapport with the team has been recognised over time by the NHBC Inspector. Clearly, these qualities and the abilities of his team make him a worthy recipient of the quality award. Alan’s success underlines both his own talent and the A&J Stephen policy to grow and develop individuals to managerial levels from within.”
A modest Alan added, “It’s a special thrill to win a Quality Award but the achievement has undoubtedly been a team effort and is a credit to the entire site team.”
The Balgarvie development has proved to be a winner with buyers over recent years due to the consistently high quality finish of its homes, together with its prime location. The site comprises a mixed housing development, ranging from two-bedroom bungalows to five-bedroom family houses. The homes are constructed with a traditional wooden frame and finished in a combination of rendering, brick and stone-work. The collection of 250 homes is now within Phase 6, with A&J Stephen commencing works on site in 2001.
Alan will be presented with his Quality Award by John Mack, NHBC Inspection Manager on the Balgarvie development in August.
