A Perth Site Manager, who started his career as an Apprentice at the age of 16, has secured the 13th ‘Pride in the Job’ award for his site.
Alan Robertson has worked for Perth-based Stephen for 37 years and is celebrating a decade at ‘Balgarvie’ in Scone.
For the first time, the firm is competing in the Medium Builder category, having previously met NHBC’s criteria for smaller firms. Alan will find out if he has been selected to represent the UK when he collects his award at a gala dinner in Glasgow this week (Friday 30 September 2016).
Alan said, “As a family run business, it’s fantastic to gain national recognition for the work we do each day, and to be competing against the larger firms this year makes it even more rewarding. Consistently standing out and being recognised for the high standard we strive for and maintain makes me exceptionally proud, coupled with the effort we all put in on a daily basis. To me, the whole site has won the award. We have now been on site for 16 years and every member of our 30-strong team has excelled, from electricians, plumbers and bricklayers to forklift drivers. Without their spirit and dedication, there would be no award.”
Having arrived on site in 2000, and with only nine homes left to complete, Alan and his team are looking to finish the site in the Spring 2017.
John Stephen, Managing Director of Stephen added, “Yet again, I am exceptionally proud of Alan and his team, and impressed by the continued commitment which Alan personally demonstrates year in year out. We wish him the very best of luck in this year’s awards.”
The Balgarvie development has proved to be a winner with buyers over recent years due to the consistently high quality finish of its homes, together with its prime location. The site comprises a mixed housing development, ranging from two-bedroom bungalows to five-bedroom family houses, as well as a collection of contemporary two-bedroom apartments.
