It's always a pleasure to talk to a happy buyer and Linda Shaw from Tornagrain was no exception.
Linda, who took delivery of her keys just days before Christmas, is slowly settling into her three-bedroom bungalow within our development between Nairn and Inverness.
Linda and her husband Malcolm set their sights on Tornagrain after their 20-year old son bought one of Stephen's one-bedroom apartments just a stone's throw away!
"My husband is planning to retire from our farm in a few years so we decided it would make long-term sense to buy a bungalow, something a little easier to maintain and live in. We were so impressed with our son's flat, and a little disappointed by other new builds we had seen in the area, that we decided to take a closer look at the plans for ourselves. We were really impressed with the layout and the space so, after a few chats with Andrea the sales advisor, we decided to go for it. Stephen also came highly recommended to us due to a family connection near Perth."
Buying at Tornagrain also made perfect sense for the family during COVID as they share their home with their 40-year-old daughter Leila, who has autism.
"When COVID struck, Leila's day centre closed so it's been wonderful having Tornagrain to relax and enjoy some quiet time. Leila also absolutely loves it. She’s used to living in a three-storey farmhouse with virtually no neighbours so she's loving the fact we have neighbours, people to say hello to and always something to see!"
Indeed, the family love the sense of community building at Tornagrain. Already home to over 400 people, Tornagrain will eventually incorporate 5,000 homes as well as parks, schools, shops and offices – a vision which will take 50 years to materialise.
"The sense of community is really important for us as most of the main facilities we need are close at hand. That, coupled with the quality of our home and its beautiful setting has made Tornagrain the ideal location for us – it's a perfect fit for our family.
"There are some lovely walks and pathways to meander around and no-one passes you without saying hello! Yes, it's growing with houses popping up all the time but, even as it grows further, it won’t lose that sense of community and friendliness – everyone has been so supportive, especially during lockdown. 2020 was a year when we all saw the importance of community and this is the best place for that. It's the little things that make a difference, like having a friendly chemist who texts you when prescriptions are ready, a shop and a café which will open once lockdown is over. There's also a big green area where you can imagine events happening and families gathering. We feel there's so much to look forward to and we love watching the community grow."
