With any new housing development, the showhome has a key role to play.
As construction gathers speed on the first 42 homes at Mansfield Park in Scone, we have been busy creating an exceptional showhome to inspire and give a flavour of the quality you can expect across the whole development.
As we prepare to unveil the showhome early next year, we had a quick catch-up with Eileen Kesson from Envision near Stirling who has been styling our showhomes for almost 20 years.
So, what can visitors expect at Mansfield Park?
"This showhome very much has its own identity, quite distinct from those we have created over the years and with a number of new features which we can’t wait to reveal.
"The kitchen is a real design highlight, absolutely stunning in navy matte, giving a more solid, lasting family feel. The navy also happens to tie in well with the Stephen branding so it’s very clear that a Stephen house is coming together on the site! In many ways, the kitchen is the springboard for the whole look of the house - the flooring will be limewashed oak, in sync with the Nordic vibe we're trying to bring into the house, with a paint finish and a clean, smart look."
With the rise in home working, how are Stephen moving with the times?
"2020 has been a game-changer for us all and Stephen are very much reflecting that, illustrating the different ways a home can be used.
"The fourth bedroom will therefore be presented as a home office. With so many of us now working from home, people are spending a lot of time at their desk so we're creating a really appealing space with a decent amount of storage, rather than an after-thought. There will also be a single bed in this room to show its versatility and potential."
And what about the living areas?
"Again, as modern builders, it's crucial that we adapt to the modern family so we're offering buyers an optional garden room. Urban pods and garden rooms have grown in popularity over lockdown, giving people a space which has so many uses, whether as a playroom, teenage den, work space or just a place to relax at the end of the day.
"With the showhome, this is added onto the garage and will act as part of our sales suite but, for buyers, it can be located as a detached, standalone unit in the back garden.
"Again, the living room is a relaxing and comfortable space with double-aspect windows and a muted colour pallet throughout, flooding it with light. We'll also have chunky linen sofas and a stove, the heart of the room, with a lighter touch than we usually create in Stephen showhomes. Life has changed for us all and the role of our home has changed dramatically, so we're delighted to be reflecting that in this showhome and showing people how they can use the space."
